“COMPLETED VARIOUS TASKS” IN OPEN MILITARY EXERCISES IN THE TAIWAN REGION - CHINA’S MILITARY ANNOUNCED

China extended its military drills for a third time on Tuesday, in response to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan.

The USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier turned its direction twice and stayed away from Taiwan throughout the drills. It was widely seen as a failure for Taiwan separatists, who claimed to have the support of U.S. military interventions.

The New York Times reported the Pentagon ordered the aircraft carrier to stay away after lengthy consultation with the White House. Several analysts from the Taiwan region believed it indicated the U.S. is losing competence in interfering in China’s cross-strait affairs.
The U.S. is also suffering a landslide loss in getting international support by 170:7. While 7 nations, namely the G7, blamed China for “unnecessary escalation,” more than 170 countries made related statements upholding China’s sovereignty.
China warned the U.S. about the visit repeatedly for four months. Besides the seven Western nations led by the U.S., the rest of the world does not seem to agree with Pelosi’s actions as multiple global crises are going on, including the ones in Ukraine.

Malaysia’s Special Envoy of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, for example, slammed Western countries’ double-standard view on issues concerning China’s Taiwan and Ukraine. “… while calling for Ukrainian sovereignty to be respected; they intend to interfere … and use Taiwan to create fissures in China,” he said on Twitter.
